Archadeck and “There’s no place like home!”

Staycation destination

Having a pity party and feeling down because you are not vacationing at some pleasurable destination this year; again? It might be a revelation that you can “staycation” ( yes, another great American slang term) and still have a fabulous holiday. How many of us in the Piedmont Triad of NC have actually forgotten about the wide choice of opportunities of great places to visit right here close to home? Have you stopped in at the NC Zoo in Asheboro or traveled back in time  to Old Salem , Reynolda House  / Reynolda Gardens in Winston-Salem? How about cruising Belews Lake in a pontoon boat rented at Carolina Marina. You actually are gifting the planet with nearly a zero carbon footprint by vacationing at home. That’s Green right?  Let’s think more green. Have you checked out  rafting one of Rockingham County’s rivers with 3 Rivers Outfitters or Dan River Adventures? Why not check on-line with neighboring county’s Chambers of Commerce about other great sites to experience?
Oh, and perhaps you should consider improving the value of your home and bring nature to you while relaxing on your new deck or screened porch or lounging in the shade of your new pergola with a favorite magazine and cold beverage.  Remember in my last blog I told you how wood decks and other outdoor wooden  structures are rebounding because of lower cost and better quality? Create your “staycation” this year. The famous words spoken by Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz  “There’s no place like home.” were never truer.  This year follow the yellow brick road  and see just where it leads you.
