Don’t let “Old Man Winter” put a damper on your outdoor living dreams. The truth is we are busy bringing these dreams to life for many homeowners in the Piedmont Triad area right now in December and January. Just like the unspoken creed of the US postal service, “we too are not stayed by snow, nor rain, nor heat, from accomplishing our appointed course with all speed.” If you are thinking about adding an outdoor structure to your backyard, now is the time to act.
There are many benefits associated with choosing to move ahead with your intended project rather than waiting until the outdoor living season has begun. These include lower wait times, less interruption to your lifestyle, and even saving money on materials. The largest benefit, inevitably, is being able to have your outdoor space operational in time for spring! Here is a look at just a few of the projects we are working on for homeowners in your area who decided not to wait out the winter…
Homeowners in Ardmore make room for change
These homeowners live in the Ardmore community which is located in Winston Salem, NC. They contacted us to design a space that would afford them a place to spend more “family time”. Since the homeowners have two young daughters, they wanted to expand their existing outdoor space, which consisted of only a 20 x 20 deck, to a room that would better suit their needs. Their ideal space needed to include a fireplace where they could mount a TV over the mantel, and plenty of room for the girls to play games.
We began the project by beefing up their existing structure in order to support the weight of a roof. We also took out an existing window and installed a front door. The additional door was added because we closed in the door on the kitchen side of the home to create more wall space within the new sunroom; this also created a better traffic pattern within the space.
The completed project will boast a stunning cathedral ceiling with painted white beaded plywood. Floors will be finished in versatile wood laminate, and we are to install wall sconces on every other post. The exterior will be wrapped in aluminum which will match the color of the existing home. Archadeck of the Piedmont Triad is also building a small deck off the sunroom perfect for grilling and other outdoor functions. The homeowners are elated about their project as it is nearing completion!
A room with a view on Lake Jeanette
We are busy on this stunning outdoor room addition located in the Lakeshore community of NW Greensboro too. The homeowners previously lived on the same street and decided to purchase another home two houses down because of the property’s scenic view of Lake Jeanette. Since they bought the house with the beautiful view in mind, they decided they wanted an outdoor room addition to take in all the vistas in an insect-free environment!
The project is currently “in progress” and includes a flat roof screened porch with finished space underneath to be used as a workshop and storage room. Archadeck of the Piedmont Triad designed the porch with a flat roof because of the abundance of tall windows present on all sides of the existing home. The screened porch will feature beautiful wood railing and provide a spacious area for the homeowners to entertain, or just enjoy quiet dinners lakeside. Since the yard slopes down considerably toward the lake, we had to make the yard level in order to create the functional space under the porch for the workshop.
We revisit friends in Clemmons, NC
It always warms our hearts to have the opportunity to re-visit with customers we have completed projects for in the past. That is just the case with these Clemmons, NC homeowners whom we had built a handicapped deck and ramp for 22 years ago. They recently contacted us to design and build a 3-season room for them so they could enjoy the outdoors with protection from rain.
We set to work designing the perfect outdoor room addition for them that includes an interior cathedral ceiling and an Eze-Breeze window system. Because we built the deck and ramp to our stringent standards some 20 years ago, the structure was built to withstand the weight of the roofed structure without having to make any structural amendments. We chose the window system for this space with versatility in mind too. Eze Breeze works by allowing you to control the amount of screen you leave exposed, from half screen and half sliding panel, to closing the panels completely and creating a room with the “feel” of a sunroom without the extra installations required in having a sunroom. With a versatile enclosure system such as this paired with a space heater you can make use of the screened porch up until late fall and early winter amidst our mild NC climate– providing the perfect space for these Clemmons homeowners.
As you can clearly see, these homeowners made the decision to move ahead with their outdoor living dreams, why not do the same for yourself? If you are poised to begin planning your spring outdoor project, moving forward in designing and scheduling your project now will ensure proper timing, less wait time and it will put less strain on your wallet.
