Ready for an upgrade to your Winston Salem screened porch?

Winston Salem screened porch updateThere are a variety of reasons to consider a Greensboro porch upgrade or update. One of the most common is to get a little extra space. Many people find that once they put a table, chairs and a couch on their screened porch, there isn’t enough room to move around. Sometimes things are falling into a bit of disrepair and it’s time to spruce them up– perhaps with an upgrade to lower maintenance building materials. Whatever your reason for wanting to make some tweaks to your deck or porch, Archadeck Piedmont Triad is ready to help.

One example of a recent Winston-Salem screened porch makeover included important safety improvements. The existing porch was in critical need of an additional brick pier and some joists in order to make it structurally sound. Any time you are building high off the ground, it’s essential that building codes are met or exceeded to avoid a potentially ugly accident. Luckily, we were able to easily add components that blended with the current porch and made it safe for use.

Low-level lighting like this requires very little power and even less maintenance, but provides a significant upgrade in terms of helping family and guests avoid trips and falls. The lights can be controlled by timer, switch or motion-control, depending on the needs of the customer.

With those important safety upgrades checked off the list, we were able to address design improvements that would transform the porch from a nice place to relax to a low-maintenance haven of tranquility. We removed a lot of treated lumber that had run its lifespan and replaced it with composite products from TimberTech and AZEK. We used AZEK’s Rustic Bark decking which mimics the look of darkly stained pine. We complemented it with matching rails and contrasting balusters from TimberTech. We wrapped the rest of the interior of the room in the same light TimberTech Kona. Any future spills or stains will easily wipe or spray off.

The new grill deck with bricked-in storage room underneath will be a huge selling point if these owners ever decide to leave their home behind. The distance from grill to table is only 4 steps and the barbecue chef has a very attractive second-story view from his work space. The storage space is ideal for yard maintenance items like a mower, rake or extra flower pots. It’s also dry enough to keep charcoal handy.

Our clients are still considering one additional upgrade. We have the ability to make the area under the screened porch dry by adding a product under the flooring that will catch the rain and siphon it through a downspout to the ground. Depending on how our customers end up using the lower level, it may be a very desirable feature to have. No rush though. Archadeck Piedmont Triad will be ready when they are.
